Being CEO is not easy.  In fact, it is one of the hardest jobs one could every have.  There are constant worries about such things as payroll, economic uncertainty, governmental regulations, political uncertainty, access to capital, technological advancements, succession planning, and not to mention work/life balance.  With everyone and everything vying for attention, it seems you are always putting out fires and never have time to truly work on growing your business and expanding your vision.

To further make matters worse, it gets extremely lonely at the top.  With respect to most situations regarding your business, you can not tell everyone everything and there are times when you can not tell anyone anything.  You are left with the only option, which is to keep all of the things that keep you awake at night close to the vest.  During those brief moments when you are able to lift your head, you realize growth has staggered, revenue has flat lined and profits have plummeted.

Prepare The Vision

Leadership sets the tone throughout every organization.  Therefore, the leader’s vision, mission and mindset matter.  Assessing the leader’s objectives is the first and most critical step in the P.U.L.S.E.™ Profit Method. If you can clearly understand where you are mentally with your business, you can get beyond the hurdles you may be facing and have likely faced for quite some time.  In other words, focusing on the leader’s mindset helps the leader get out of his/her own way and opens the pathway to success.

Understand The Numbers

Numbers tell a story and they never lie.  Anything that is not properly measured can not be managed.  P.U.L.S.E.™ helps you focus on key financial and non-financial indicators that tell the story about your business journey.  In other words, this second step of the process helps you read the tea leaves to determine where you are headed.  Numbers play a critical role in the analysis of your business.  Without the numbers, your story is incomplete.  Change the direction of the numbers and you can change the course of your business.

Leverage The Resources

People, processes and systems are critical components to your succession plan and overall business success.  Without appropriate and effective resources in place, your business will die a slow death.  This third step of P.U.L.S.E.™ concentrates on areas that can and should be delegated, documented and/or automated.  This process helps to elevate the CEO to 30,000 feet above the weeds to focus on vision, strategy and relationship building.  CEOs of the greatest businesses in the marketplace solicit assistance from trusted advisors, rely on highly productive teams, effectively document processes, and set components of their business on auto pilot.

Scan The Strengths & Weaknesses

Before any strategy is executed, it’s imperative to understand the conditions in, out and around the business that offer opportunities or pose a threat to the business.  This fourth step of P.U.L.S.E.™ determines what the business is doing well and where there is room for improvement.  It further assesses the opportunities and threats that may exist in the marketplace.  Knowing this information allows the business to shift position in order to stand out from its competition.

Execute The Plan

The tone of her voice was very appropriate and the language was professional but accessible to the layman. Really Great interview!
